IAB Compliance Updates
Following a detailed compliance review by the IAB, several mandatory policy issues were identified in the previous IAB banner implementation. To address this, we have updated our IAB banner to fully conform with TCF v2.2 policy requirements across both the Initial and Secondary layers.
We strongly recommend that you adopt this updated version to ensure policy compliance, avoid enforcement risks, and maintain your vendor integrations under the IAB framework.
Compliance with All Mandatory IAB Policy Checks
Our updated banner resolves each point raised by IAB including (but not limited to):
- Storage and access of information (cookies, device identifiers, etc.)
- Mention of all standard Purposes, Special Features, and legal bases
- Disclosure of vendor count and links to vendor list
- Clarity on service-specific consent scope
- User guidance for withdrawing consent
- Use of standardized IAB texts and illustrations
These changes address Appendix B, Policies C(b)(I) through C(b)(VIII), as well as other secondary layer policies referenced in the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework Policies.
What you need to do
- To account for these changes, you will need to update the current IAB banner text within your notice translation, an example of which is below with the below text.
- See the Managing Text and Translations help document for instructions
- The field that will need updating is IAB Message
- Banner Text example:
“We and selected third-party vendors use cookies and similar technologies to store and access information on your device, such as device identifiers, IP address, and browsing data. This includes the processing of your personal data for the following purposes: {iabpurposes}.{iabspecialfeatures}<br>A total of {vendorcount} third-party vendors may process your personal data — including vendors not participating in the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework. You can view the full list of {vendorslink} and their {purposeslink}.<br>Some partners process data based on <b>legitimate interest</b> instead of consent. You can object to this processing under vendor settings. Your choices apply to this website only (<b>service-specific consent</b>).<br>You can choose whether to give or refuse consent below. After giving consent, you can change or withdraw it at any time by clicking the "Cookie Consent" button at the bottom right of the page.”
- We have added placeholders within the text, these placeholders will auto update with correct values per the configuration
- {iabpurposes}: This placeholder will be replaced with the list of all Purposes associated with the selected vendors in the notice.
- {iabspecialfeatures}: This placeholder will be replaced with the list of all Special Features associated with the selected vendors in the notice.
- {vendorcount}: This placeholder will be replaced with the total number of vendors included in the notice.
