UCP now supports IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) v2.4, keeping your consent notices aligned with the latest IAB Europe requirements.
What’s new
- TCF v2.4 support: UCP now uses the latest TCF policy version when generating consent strings. Existing visitor consent continues to work, and visitors are asked to re-consent where needed.
- Legitimate Interest: UCP no longer applies Legitimate Interest to vendors that declare only Special Purposes. These vendors also no longer show a Legitimate Interest toggle in the preferences dialog.
- Updated banner text: The IAB notice text has been updated. It now lists the purposes data is processed for, names the Special Features in use, and states the vendor count. It also explains legitimate interest and clarifies that choices apply to this website only (service-specific consent).
- Special Features: Special Feature 2 now uses the TCF v2.4 name, “Identify devices based on information actively requested”. The Special Features named in your banner now come from the latest vendor list, so they stay accurate as the list changes.
- Preferences dialog: The dialog now shows the standard explanatory text for Features and Special Features, along with illustrations where available. Vendor details now show data retention periods and data categories where vendors provide them.
- API consistency: apiVersion now returns the number 2 before and after the CMP loads, as the TCF specification requires.
What you need to do
If you’ve customized your IAB banner text or translations, please review them against the updated wording. If your banner doesn’t use the {iabspecialfeatures} marker, add it to show the Special Features in use.
