Shop the Look is an AI-powered recommendation feature for fashion retailers. It detects the garments visible in a model image on a product detail page and automatically recommends the other items in the outfit from your catalog. Shop The Look is available to both Fredhopper and XO customers.

Why use Shop the Look?

Shoppers browsing a product detail page often want to buy the full outfit they see on a model, not just the single item on the page. However, creating and maintaining outfit recommendations manually across a large catalog is time-consuming and difficult to keep consistent.

Shop the Look addresses this by automatically detecting the garments visible in a model image and recommending the complementary items removing the need for manual curation at scale. By surfacing relevant items, Shop The Look creates a natural opportunity for up-sell. Shoppers who engage with outfit recommendations are more likely to add additional items to their basket, increasing average order value.

How it works

Shop the Look analyzes full-body model images in your catalog, including accessories, such as bags, jewelry and scarfs, as well as footwear, and returns the complimentary items shown in the image.

Note: If an item shown in the model image is out-of-stock, Shop The Look recommends the closest available item from your catalog.

A dedicated model is trained by our AI team for each customer, using your specific catalog data to ensure recommendations are relevant to your inventory. If an exact match is not available, Shop the Look returns the closest available alternative.

Examples

A model is photographed wearing a green sweater, grey sweatpants, and white trainers. The source product is the green sweater. Shop The Look detects the sweatpants and trainers in the image and recommends the closest available matches from the catalog.

Warning: Layered outfits, multi-piece garments, such as suits or jumpsuits, and looks where footwear is not fully visible may produce less accurate results.
