Dear customer, dear partner,
for technical reasons we will move the preview data of the Content as a Service (CaaS) to another host, so that the FirstSpirit preview and release data are managed on the same host
The live data is not affected by this change.
From the time of the switchover, the old preview URL will be redirected to the new URL via forwarding (HTTP 308 Permanent Redirect). This redirect will remain in place in the future.
What are preview and live data?
The preview data is the data that has been edited in FirstSpirit and has not yet been released.
In contrast, live data is the data that has been editorially released in FirstSpirit.
What should I pay attention to?
So-called API keys are used to control external access to the CaaS data. It is not necessary to adapt the API keys for access to the preview data, as the existing API keys remain valid.
Depending on the configuration and how the preview data is accessed, the internal handling of the redirect may cause problems, depending on the HTTP library used. In this case either configure the new URL for accessing the preview data or by setting the appropriate configuration parameters ("follow redirect") the library is instructed to follow the redirect. For customers of our SAP Commerce Cloud or Spryker integration, there is a detailed guide to configuration changes, which we provide separately.
When is the change implemented?
The change will be implemented during the upcoming patchday, on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, for the Development (DEV) and Quality Assurance (QA) instances. On 28.10.2020 the changeover of the productive instances (PROD) will take place.
Does this changeover change my contractual conditions?
No. The contractually agreed prices remain unchanged.

aus technischen Gründen werden wir die Preview-Daten des Content as a Service (CaaS) auf einen anderen Host umziehen, so dass die FirstSpirit Preview- und Freigabe-Daten auf dem gleichen Host verwaltet werden.
Die Live-Daten sind von dieser Änderung nicht betroffen.
Ab dem Zeitpunkt der Umschaltung wird die alte Preview-URL per Weiterleitung (HTTP 308 Permanent Redirect) an die neue URL verweisen. Dieser Redirect wird auch zukünftig bestehen bleiben.
Was sind Preview- und Live-Daten?
Die Preview-Daten sind die Daten, die in FirstSpirit redaktionell bearbeitet und noch nicht freigegeben sind.
Im Gegensatz dazu sind Live-Daten die Daten, die in FirstSpirit redaktionell freigegeben wurden.
Was sollte ich beachten?
Um den externen Zugriff auf die CaaS Daten zu steuern, werden sogenannte API-Keys eingesetzt. Eine Anpassung der API-Keys für den Zugriff auf die Vorschaudaten ist nicht notwendig, da die bestehenden API-Keys weiterhin ihre Gültigkeit behalten.
Je nach Konfiguration und wie auf die Vorschau-Daten zugegriffen wird, kann es abhängig der eingesetzten HTTP-Bibliothek bei der internen Behandlung des Redirects zu Problemen kommen. In diesem Fall kann entweder
- die neue URL für den Zugriff auf die Preview-Daten konfiguriert werden oder
- durch das Setzen von entsprechenden Konfigurations-Parametern (“follow redirect”) die Bibliothek angewiesen werden, dem redirect zu folgen.
Für Kunden unserer SAP-Commerce-Cloud- bzw. Spryker-Integration gibt es eine detaillierte Anleitung der Konfigurationsänderung, die wir gesondert zu Verfügung stellen.
Wann wird die Änderung durchgeführt?
Die Umstellung erfolgt im Rahmen des kommenden Patchday, am Mittwoch, 21.10.2020, für die Development (DEV) und Quality Assurance (QA) Instanzen. Am 28.10.2020 erfolgt die Umstellung der produktiven Instanzen (PROD).
Ändern sich durch diese Umstellung meine vertraglichen Konditionen?
Nein. Die vertraglich vereinbarten Preise bleiben weiterhin unverändert bestehen.

Here a more detailed description how to change the URL if you do not want to rely on the HTTP redirect.
The current pattern for accessing CaaS preview data is this:
https://customer-dev-preview-caas-api.e-spirit.cloud/project/document?parameters
Change it like this - so use the host name of the live CaaS and the suffix "@preview" for the project part of the url:
https://customer-dev-caas-api.e-spirit.cloud/project@preview/document?parameters
Today the DEV and QA environments have been migrated according to plan. The PROD environments will be patched next Wednesday.
