Google are replacing Google Analytics: Universal Analytics (GA UA) with GA4 on 1st July 2023. For more information, visit Google’s information page.
This guide shows how to generate credentials for Google Analytics v4. Please note that stakeholders with Admin rights in GA4 are required to provide credentials.
- Find your service account in APIs & Services/Credentials (if one doesn't exist, it should be created first).
-
To the right of your chosen service account, select “Edit service account”, indicated by the pencil icon.
-
Open the “Keys” tab. From “Add key“, select “Create new key”.
-
Click "create " to download the credentials.json file.
- Go to the GA cloud console (https://console.cloud.google.com/) and from the navigation menu select APIs & Services/ Library.
-
Search for “Google Analytics Data API” and enable the API.
-
Send the credentials.json file and the used profile IDs via the Hubspot form. Should you encounter any troubles, you can always contact your CSM via email.
Alternatively, you can also upload the credentials.json file via FTP and share the access link. - In the relevant box in the Hubspot form, please indicate whether you have Google Analytics 360 Universal Analytics set up, and whether you wish to migrate as soon as possible, or if you choose to wait – Google Analytics 360 customers have an additional year to migrate.
- Grant permission to service account email address:
-
Log in to Google Analytics.
-
Click Admin at the base of the left-hand navigation.
-
Click User Management in the left-hand column of the navigation table.
-
In the Add permissions for text box, paste the service account email address copied at the end of step 2. In the drop-down menu, select Read & Analyze permissions for the email address.
-
Click Add. Fredhopper AProxy will use the service account email address only for authentication purposes with the minimum permissions, i.e. "Read & Analyze".
