How to create a diversification strategy

Introduction

Welcome to diversification strategy. This guide will provide you with a simple step-by-step guide to applying a diversification strategy.

 

Prerequisites

In order to follow these steps you will need to have access to the EB control panel. If you do not have access you can request access by clicking here or choosing “I/my colleague require access to an Attraqt service” from the use case drop down on the “Submit a request” page in the Support Centre. For security reasons we require access for 3rd parties to be requested by a member of the organisation to whos control panel access is being requested for. This is to ensure the individual has the organisations permission to access the control panel. 

 

You must first get in touch with your CSM to use diversification as this feature is not activated by default on your XO console. 

 

Scenario

We will base the scenario on a specific example. 

Here, our brand is a home appliances' provider that has multiple categories to offer for various rooms. We would like to showcase the diversity of our catalog by showing a product from a different category for each product that we are pushing within an individual widget.

 

Step 1

Log into the XO platform and click on the widget you would like to use diversification for.

 

Step 2

Access the algorithm tab of the merchandising rule as shown below.

 

Step 3

Add a new strategy and select the strategy you’d like to use for diversification for instance: user recommendation.

Step 4

Next, under-display strategy, select"Diversified recommendations".

 

Step 5

Select the diversification attribute you would like to use. In our example, we will use the product category.

 

Important Information: all attributes are not available by default. To use this strategy, you must inform your CSM of which attribute you'd like to use. 

 

Step 6

Under a number of distinct values, select the amount of differentiated items you wish to have in your widget. Here we have a block of four products and we want each one of them to have a different category level. We will, therefore, enter 4.

 

Step 7

Add the strategy and save the widget

 

Step 8

Go to the page where you have added diversification –you should have a diversified recommendation!
