During site binding two steps must be performed:
1) Binding the domain to the site
2) The customer must update DNS to point their domain to our servers
Sometimes, however, the customer may not have correctly set the DNS.
Before sending to the IT Department, you will want to check where DNS is pointed to.
This is where a command called nslookup comes into play.
Using nslookup, you can check DNS to compare if it has been set
If the DNS matches the one provided by the IT, then please escalate to IT. However if it does not match, inform the customer that it does not match.
You can also use 3rd party sites to check DNS (ex: https://www.whatsmydns.net/)
