Best Practice Guide: Post-Upgrade Checks

You've recently upgraded your Fredhopper environment and want to make sure nothing has broken in the process. This guide gives you a structured checklist of items to review so you can catch and resolve any issues before they reach production.

Here is a list of checks you can do to ensure that your FHR upgrade has gone smoothly:

• Preview pages - Check on preview that you can perform some basic functionality such as a test search and test navigation where you can select different facets etc. You can also compare basic functionality on pre-published to published by comparing search results and facet navigation results.
• Merchandising Studio - Check that you can access the Merchandising Studio and navigate to each tab if permissions allow. Check you can search for a name/id of a rule in the MS search bar.
• Layout - Visit the preview pages and Merchandising Studio and check that they are both accessible and displays as expected. Test the different Internet browsers that you have in use in your workspace. In addition, confirm that the layout appears as expected and that the menus are clickable and functioning.
• Permissions - Confirm that you can view a page with view restrictions that you have permission to view. Confirm that you can edit a page with edit restrictions that you have permission to edit. Confirm restricted users cannot access or modify restricted pages.
• Connectivity - If the environment is set up on a staging site, perform checks on-site to see if your front end receives correct responses from Fredhopper. Same for live environments.
