Introduction to images campaigns
This guide will provide you with simple step-by-step instructions to create an items campaign using Fredhopper's Merchandising Studio.
Items campaigns can provide a means to inspire shoppers to purchase products. This could include an image for sales items located on your womens category, an image link to seasonal products, or a simple visually appealing way to navigate shoppers to a category in your site.
The configuration possibilities are vast. This article focuses on how to create an images campaign using a common scenario, which can easily be tailored to your own visual merchandising strategy.
It is recommended that you have read the 'Getting started with campaigns' article before you use campaigns in your Merchandising Studio.
Scenario
In this scenario, we want to display an image campaign promoting women's winter coats providing a link to the coats and jackets page. This will be triggered across the women's catalogue page.
Step by step guide
Step 1
Open the Fredhopper Merchandising Studio and login using your credentials:
Step 2
Navigate to CAMPAIGNS from the menu option:
Step 3
Click New:
Step 4
Enter a Name for your campaign, e.g. 'Winter coats':
Step 5
Click SELECT SCOPE:
And choose the scope that you want this campaign to apply to, then click SELECT:
Step 6
Click ADD TRIGGER:
Click on the Select trigger drop-down and choose Catalogue Location:
Step 7
Next, you need to select the catalogue location for this trigger, so click ADD LOCATION:
The Preview site will open, navigate to Women and click Select location:
Step 8
Next, you need to configure the action; what will happen when a shopper lands on the Women location.
There are two areas:
- Display: This is the text you can display around the campaign and the content you may want to show to the shopper.
- Contents: This is where you choose 'Images' campaign and add the image URL and the details for the links.
For this guide, we will keep the Display settings blank as per their default settings.
In the Content area, from the 'Show' drop-down choose Images:
Add the Image URL:
https://static.dorothyperkins.com/v1/static/json-0000157274_UK-HP-2019-10-23-WK8-WEDS-2jpg
Step 9
Add the Link to URL:
Note: Choose either URL or Location. Add a URL if you would like it so that, when a shopper clicks on the campaign, they will be redirected to the URL or alternatively select a specific location in your site. If you choose Location from the drop-down, you will need to navigate to the desired location. For this example, we will use the URL option.
Step 10
Now add Hover text, e.g. 'Shop winter coats':
Note: There is an option to 'Open in new window', this will trigger when the shopper clicks on the campaign.
Step 11
Finally, Save the campaign:
Step 12
This next step is optional, but it is good practice to Preview any configurations made in your Merchandising Studio before you publish them.
Click on Preview:
Step 13
Navigate to Women to see your new image campaign in action:
Step 14
Go back to your Merchandising Studio to the campaign you have created and click on Send for publication:
Once this has been published the campaign will appear on your front end depending on your cache strategy.
Best practice
- Regularly review and manage your campaigns to ensure they are still fit for purpose
