How to insert a Link to FirstSpirit through the API?

Hello,

I am trying to import a Link to a FirstSpirit database through a CMS_INPUT_LINK element. My data type is of String in the API and should be inserted to the FS database as a Link. When trying to send it as a regular String type I get a wrong type Exception.

I cannot find any guide on how to do that so if someone can post a snipped I would be very thankful.
