Keyword Ranking : How to identify Universal SERP features to target

You can look for many different types of Universal Search results from Featured Snippets, Videos and Images to People Also Ask and Social Media.

Once you have filtered your keyword data to show the keywords that generate a particular SERP feature, you can sort the table by Search Volume and further refine your target list by filtering to keywords where your website is ranking on the first page of Google.

This should give you an actionable list of keywords to target where your site is in striking distance of being able to rank.

Here's how to do it:

1. Click on Rank Tracking

2. Click on + icon to bring up a list of available filters for your keyword ranking table data

3. Click on SERPs Features

4. Click on 'Any Rankings'

5. Click on the SERP features that you want to target

For example, you might want to find keywords where Google is showing different types of Featured Snippets. 'Featured Snippets - All' will show you every type, or you can look for specific types of Featured Snippets.

6. Select multiple types

7. Click on 'Apply'

8. You can click the '+' icon to further refine your list to keywords where your website is ranking well already

9. Click on 'Domain Rank'

10. Click on '1' to '10'

11. Click on 'Apply'

12. You will now see a filtered list of keywords. You can click on the 'Top 100 icon' to view the full SERP for a keyword

N/B: You may end up with an empty list if you apply too many filters or too narrow a range. e.g. If you are not ranking on the first page of Google and you apply the 'Domain Rank' filter as described.

13. You can hover over the SERP Features icons to see which features are ranking for each keyword

If the icon is coloured in green, then it means your site is ranking for that feature.

e.g. You can see here that we are ranking #1 with the Featured Snippet for 'keyword ranking API' but are not ranking in the Featured Snippet for 'backlink profiles'.
