Deleting and restoring keywords in the Platform and its impact on data stored in Big Query – Rezolve Ai Support Portal

Deleting and restoring monitored keywords.

With more and more clients starting to turn to our Google Big Query integration to power their Looker Studio SEO reports a couple of questions have come up as to how changes in the platform might impact the data stored in your Bgig Query datasets.

How to delete keywords in the platform

Users can delete one or more keywords at any time by going to the Keyword Rank module and clicking the 'delete' icon on each row, or by, selecting the keywords that need to be deleted in bulk using the 'Select All' checkbox and the Action column as pictured below.

Deleting keywords from the keyword rank tracking module

Users can add and delete keywords in the Authoritas Platform via the User Interface or API at any time, but you cannot edit and rename an existing keyword.

As you can see from the screenshot below, if you click edit to amend data about a keyword, you can only change associated meta data like the keyword tags and mapped pages; the keyword field is disabled.

How to restore keywords to your project

This is very simple, just add them back manually or use the bulk import facility. The system will automatically reconnect to the historical ranking data we have previously collected if you add the keywords back within 90 days of their deletion date.

How deleted keywords are handled in Big Query

All of the above has implications for how the data is stored (and later recovered if necessary) and how the data is synchronized to Google Big Query for Looker Studio reporting.

Please note, the synchronisation to Big Query is append only for the keywords_rankings and serps_data tables, so previous ranking history for a keyword is not updated. Changes only take effect from the time they are made. Other keyword related tables are updated fully, e.g. keywords_tags.

This matrix attempts to summarise the different scenarios and their implications.

Action	Authoritas Platform & API	Google Big Query
Delete Keyword	The keyword and its associated meta data (e.g. Tags) is 'soft-deleted' so it's removed from the User Interface, but it is still stored in our platform databases for as long as the account is active. We only keep rank history for deleted keywords for 90 days from the time of deletion.	We don't actually delete any data. Keywords in all relevant tables, (e.g. `keywords_rankings` and `serps_data` are updated with a `keyword_deleted_at` date allowing you to filter them out from your Big Query Views and Looker Studio reports.
Restore Previously Deleted Keyword	If a user adds back a keyword that was previously deleted, then this will restore the ranking history that is stored in the platform databases for this keyword, but only if it is restored less than 90 days after it was first deleted.	There will be a gap in the data covering the period when the keyword was deleted and not being tracked. Fresh ranking and SERP data will be appended to the relevant BigQ tables as normal once we have collected it.

And that's all there is to it. If you need any help or have further questions please drop our support team an email.
