How to copy whitelisted tags to other policies

In our June 2023 release we’ve introduced the ability to copy a whitelisted tag from one Tag Control policy to another.

To copy a whitelisted tag, first log into Tag Control and select the site that contains the tag you’d like copied and select it:

 

Once the tag has been selected, the Actions button will be enabled and you are allowed to choose Copy to:

 

You will then be prompted to choose another site to copy the whitelisted tag too. Please note, currently you are only able to copy the tag to one additional site at a time, if you would like to copy the tag to multiple sites you will just repeat this process.

 

The following updates will be made to the path messages:

1) In the destination site, the copied and approved tags will have the path message: "Imported from [{Source Site Name}] ({Source Site Id}) site."

2) During the copying process, if any tag in the destination site already exists among the observed tags, we will automatically move that tag to the approved list and update the path as: "Approved from [{Source Site Name}] ({Source Site Id}) site."

3) If any tags in the source list are marked as essential, we will override the destination's behavior, and the path will be set as: "Overridden essential from [{Source Site Name}] ({Source Site Id}) site."

In the destination site, if we unapproved any copied tag that contains any of the previously mentioned messages (2 and 3), we will update the Path if it exists in the URL.

Upon successful completion, the tags will be copied and published on the target site.
