Fredhopper uses a concept of universes and locales to model the data
-
Universe
- A Universe is a collection of items that are held together in a categorisation. The top level category in the categorisation is the Universe. In most cases Fredhopper has a single Universe, however Fredhopper also supports Multi Universe set-ups as well as Relational Universe set-ups
-
Locale
- A locale is a language - region combination such as en_GB, or fr_BE. The locale typically consists of a language code in lower case, underscore, and the region a country code in upper case. By default standard language (ISO-639) and country (ISO-3166) codes are supported, but it is possible to customise locales to follow your organisation and sales structures, to values such as en_INT (English, international) or sg_CH (Swiss German, Switzerland).
The configuration in Fredhopper is always per universe/locale combination
