If a ranking rule does not behave as expected or it does not fit your merchandising goals, you can change it.
Prerequisites
- Verify that you can create and manage ranking rules and attributes in the Merchandising Studio.
Your user role determines your level of access to the Merchandising Studio. To change your role and level of access, contact a Merchandising Studio administrator from your team. - Verify that the attributes that you want to use meet the following requirements:
- The basetype of the attribute is int, float, text, list, or list64.
- The attribute is active in the navigation index.
To view the navigation index, go to SYSTEM > Navigation > Navigation index. A green check in the Navigation index column signals that the attribute is active.
Scenario
We want to update a ranking rule and change its scope, triggers or actions.
- Log in to the Merchandising Studio and navigate to RANKINGS > Ranking rules.
- Locate your ranking attribute in the list and click its name. Or you can search by its name or ID in the search field.
- (Optional) In the menu bar, from the Labels drop-down menu, select one or more labels to apply to the rule.
-
(Optional) To change the scope of the rule, select a new scope from the drop-down menu and Save the Ranking Rule.
-
(Optional) In the TRIGGERS section, add, change, or remove triggers.
Option Description Keyword The rule triggers when the shopper runs a search for a specific term. Navigation steps The rule triggers when the shopper makes a specific or a relative number of navigation steps. For more information about custom triggers, see Creating custom triggers. 6. (Optional) In the ACTION section, add, change, or remove sorting actions.
7. (Optional) For each Rank by field, set the sorting.
Option Description Default
Descending order. Sorts from highest to lowest value.Ascending order. Sorts from lowest to highest value.
Important
When using a ranking cocktail, check its pushing setting and the normalization of its attributes. Make sure that they cause the ranking cocktail to behave as expected. For more information, see Getting started with ranking attributes.8. Save the Ranking Rule.
Change priority
In a scope, you can configure the priority of your rules. Priority determines which ranking rule to apply, if two or more ranking rules trigger simultaneously in a scope.
The lower the value in the Priority column, the higher the priority. Rules with a higher priority apply first.
Next steps
- Verify that the rule behaves as expected in the Preview Pages.
You can access the Preview Pages from your FHR URL containing /preview/. - If ready to go live, send the rule for publication.
