Introduction to creating redirects
This guide will provide you with simple step-by-step instructions to create a Redirect using Fredhopper's Merchandising Studio. This guide explains how to set up a basic Redirect using a search term.
Prerequisites
- You have defined the triggers for the desired redirect in advance
- You need to have permissions to create a redirects
- It is recommended that you have read the 'Getting started with redirects' article before you use redirects in your Merchandising Studio
- You have access to your Fredhopper Merchandising Studio
Scenario
A shopper types 'shipping' into the search area of your site, you want to redirect them to your delivery page within your website.
Step-by-step guide
Step 1
Open your Fredhopper URL containing /fredhopper/admin/ which should look something like this:

Navigate to Redirects from the menu options:

Click New:
Step 4
Enter a name for your redirect, e.g. Shipping. Make sure this is a unique name:

Click SELECT SCOPE:
And choose the scope that you want this redirect to apply to, then click SELECT:

Next, you will need to select a trigger from the dropdown, for this scenario we will choose Keyword:

Type 'shipping' into the Keyword field:

Under Action you will see a field; URL. Type the URL where you want to direct shoppers to:
Click Save:

Optional.
Check this redirect triggers as expected in your Merchandising Studio, click on Preview:
Type 'shipping' into the search field:
Step 10
Go back to your Merchandising Studio to the redirect you have created and click on Send for publication:
Once this has been Published the modification is live and will take effect when the date and time is met.
Best practice
- Regularly review and manage your redirects to ensure they are still fit for purpose
- Ensure you have set up a redirect for common keywords (search terms) e.g. 'Delivery', 'Shipping' or 'Contact'
