This article will answer questions about our search functionality on the Experience Orchestrator (XO) platform, including current functionality, limitations, and the future roadmap for Search on XO.
What search features are currently available on XO as standard?
- Stemming: One of the most basic features behind almost any search - reduces search terms to their stem for better keyword matching
- Pagination: Allows customers to break up search results into pages for easier retrieval of search results and display for the customer
- Fuzzy search: Identifies non-exact matches of a target item, essentially providing a search functionality that is stable against misspellings
- Synonyms & one-way synonyms: Creates equivalences between one or more search terms
- Redirects to URL: Redirects searches to specific landing pages
- Search refinement: The ability to refine search results through facets and sorting
- Search preview: The ability to preview refined search results through a mock search bar
- Search API: Easy and speedy integration through our Search API
- Search integration: Developer mode search preview & documentation
- Triggerable facets:The ability to deploy facets based on triggers, such as the search query or facet clicks
- Results modification:The capability to change output of the search algorithm based on triggers, to align search results with your business goals. This includes the ability to boost and bury items, sort results by price and whitelist or blacklist products.
Does Search on XO manage spell correction?
Yes, by default a fuzzy search will be run as a fallback in case no results are displayed for a search query.
Are synonyms transitive?
Only within a group of synonyms. However, if you make A a synonym for B and B a synonym for C, A won’t be a synonym for C.
Are Insights or the Strategy Console currently supported for Search on XO?
There is no link currently available for the Strategy Console or Insights, but it is on the roadmap.
Can Merchandisers create facets directly in the interface?
Yes, they can be created directly in the Console.
Is it possible to A/B test search results when comparing two variables? What are the best use cases to test?
A/B testing is unfortunately not yet available for Search on XO, but is part of the future roadmap.
What other features are in the pipeline?
AI Search and Search Suggest for XO will be available in Q3, 2021.
What is planned for the future roadmap?
- Supporting multiple languages on a single tenant. This enables customers to copy their configurations.
- SDK and UI components for front-end integration
- Grouping search results (creating groups within the Search Results Page to be populated with items of a particular tag)
- Search orchestration (more complex Search Pass orchestration system)
What are some considerations/ limitations of Search on XO?
- Onboarding: Customers with >1M products in their catalog will require custom (manual) onboarding
- Functionality: Some XO features are not yet extendable to search. At this time, only tagging can be extended to search to power result modification. A/B testing, personalization, XO algorithms do not currently apply to search on XO.
SEARCH ADD-ONS
What search add-ons are currently available on XO?
AI-Powered Search is now available on XO. It is a complementary add-on solution to our core search functionality. It uses all available product data (text and images), as well as historical user behavior to self-learn to provide more relevant search results to the user. This means the more data you feed into it, the more accurate the search results become.
What problem does AI-Powered Search solve?
Our self-learning algorithm enables customers to deliver more complete and accurate experiences for even the most complex and unstructured search requests. AI-Powered search specifically addresses and solves long-tail searches, reducing the number of zero and low-results searches, thereby increasing conversion.
What verticals can currently be covered?
Fast fashion, sports fashion, and grocery. The number of verticals can be extended, but the algorithm needs to be trained to do so. Please get in touch with the product team to inquire about additional verticals.
What languages is AI-Powered Search currently available in?
AI-Powered Search is currently available in 40+ languages including English, German, French, and Spanish. Languages can be expanded but require training of the algorithm. Please get in touch with the product team to inquire about additional languages.
