FAS 6.5 added a completely new campaign system replacing the previous promotion configuration. The existing promotion configuration will be automatically converted to the new system when the qserver starts up. Errors in this process are logged in fredhopper.log and need to be resolved manually.
The new campaign system also requires BMDB migration to make the configuration page appear in the Business Manager.
Note that 'end user types' in FAS 6.5 have been integrated into the trigger system for campaigns. Existing configurations that use end user types will be migrated automatically when the query server is started.
FAS 6.5 removed the feature to sort items inside a campaign into a random order. The replacement for this functionality is using analytics or other suitable metrics to create a targeted ranking (FAS-6562).
FAS 6.5 changes and clarifies the meaning of certain frontend response XML elements. The upgrade to FAS 6.5 from an earlier version should be executed on a test environment first to implement frontend changes.
Detailed FAS 6.5 upgrade instructions are available in the Learning Center at Migrate FAS6.2 & FAS 6.3 to FAS 6.5 and above.
