Choosing the correct Fredhopper basetype

Background

A Fredhopper basetype is a data type which tells something about the kind of data that the attribute represents. Properly defining your basetypes will help you get the most out of Fredhopper. The basetype that is chosen for a certain attribute defines if it can or cannot be used for sorting or for creating filters/facets and how it should be used in the Fredhopper Query Language.

 

Requirements

Before choosing a basetype for each of your attributes we assume: 

• You are familiar with the Understand the Fredhopper Data Model and Concepts and Understand the Fredhopper data API
• You are familiar with the different Fredhopper basetypes
• You are familiar with the content of the attribute for which you want to define a basetype.
• You are familiar with the Fredhopper supported locales
